Vogue China August 2009

Sigrid Agren, shot by Terry Tsiolis

Sigrid makes her Vogue debut on this cover I believe. I am very happy for her, but am I the only one who wouldn't recognize her? She's absolutely beautiful - but she has that 'everything is perfect' quality about her that makes it difficult for her to stand out in my opinion. She has no severe features, or flaws - in other words. Anyway, I feel as though I've been very critical lately, but I really can't help it. I have a "Favorite Covers" file on my computer, and so far I have only added about three 2009 covers. There hasn't really been an incredible magazine cover in a long time. Hopefully Vogue Paris and Italia will help lift our spirits. As for now, this cover is nice - but it just looks like a photo-shoot to me, there's no oomph. In fact, I feel like I've seen this exact pose and leopard print together before....

God bless Toccara Jones.

Anyway, this is the supplement cover that comes with this issue of Vogue China:

I guess for now, this is the closet Amanda Laine and Karlie Kloss: two girls who book every show, yet barely get any cover time - will get to an actual Vogue cover. Good for them though, even though this is just a supplement issue, and they're not even posing for the cover, they still have the word "VOGUE" behind, which means this is definitely good for their portfolios. And there's no doubt that they'll get real covers very soon.
